May 4, 2020 @ 10:30 am - May 8, 2020 @ 5:00 pm

Due to the effects and spread of COVID-19, we have decided to postpone Gilberto’s master class until late Summer or early Fall. As everything is extremely uncertain regarding when this pandemic will subside, we are monitoring the situation weekly and will keep this page updated accordingly. Gilberto WILL conduct this workshop, we are just not sure of the date yet. Thank you for your patience and understanding. We wish you health and safety in the coming weeks.

This 5 day figure drawing master class will focus on understanding the figure clothed. Students will learn to compose a drawing with an anatomically correct clothed figure in space and to render fabric in a way that compliments the models figure using Russian sauce on stretched paper.

On the first day, Gilberto will do a demo drawing for students and visitors allowing them to see his process first hand before beginning their own drawings. With a focus on human anatomy, perspective and tactile approaches to analyzing form, students will build a better understanding of the human form. The workshop will enforce a constructive academic approach to drawing while introducing students to atmospheric perspective, pushing them to be both accurate and capture the essence of their sitter. They will learn to work with Russian sauce.

Gilberto Geraldo is a Brazilian born artist who has studied at both the V.A. Surikov Institute Moscow and the I.E. Repin State Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in St. Petersburg, Russia. His mastery of drawing and painting has sent him around the world to instruct workshops and give demos. Gilberto currently lives in Russia. Understanding that classical art must also be contemporary, Gilberto is able to combine his Academic skill with a deep understanding of the contemporary art market to guide students of classical Academies and Ateliers into the 21st century well informed about historical techniques, and modern subject matter.
